I wrote about my addiction to yard sales already. I wrote about my adventures at The Bins when yard sale season is over. What I have not written about recently is my affection to shopping at Thrift shops. My sister is the queen of thrift shop shopping and she got me hooked. She is so good that I just tell her what I need and sure enough, she finds it!
Not more than 3 miles from my home is a fabulous Thrift Shop. This store has a truck pickup service so many people donate by just leaving their stuff out their front door. This store uses the color tag process for discounts. On Saturdays all merchandise is 50% off if it is not the designated color. On Wednesdays all clothes, except for the designated color is 50% off for seniors, age 55!
My current craft item of up-cycling cowboy shirts into aprons brings me to the store weekly, sometimes twice a week seeking shirts. Fabric for my Tooth Fairy pillows has also been found at this store. .
Because I buy clothes and fabrics, everything gets washed. I am more reluctant to buy goods that can’t be put into the washer or dishwasher. My hesitation was overcome last week when I saw the perfect office chair. I needed a new office chair and just didn’t want to pay big bucks.
After struggling with the help of another short woman we got the chair to floor level. I looked it over and it seemed fairly perfect. The price was $4.95! Of course the woman who helped me was getting excited about the chair as well. Bargains seem to unite people is my opinion. For the price I decided to take it home.
I bought a can of Lysol and sprayed the chair until it was wet. I then wrapped the chair in black plastic and set it outside in the 90+-degree sun for 2 days. Presto, I have a new to me clean office chair. Yes the Lysol cost more than the chair but it is one of the best bargains I ever bought! My sister is very proud of me.
