This is a challenge Blog. Kathy Gottberg, a blogger I follow at http://smartliving365.com challenged me to write 3 blogs with 3 quotes. Challenge blogs are a way to write about something out of your comfort zone, or meet a specific deadline or post on a specific topic. I am not a quote person so for me this is truly a challenge!
I think a quote person thinks of quotes she has read and is inspired/touched or helped by them. A quote person can recite a quote at the right opportunity that sums up a situation or a feeling. I am not that person. I cannot remember quotes. I like a quote when I hear one but more often than not I soon forget. I cannot remember jokes. Maybe there is a correlation?
I am using my 3 quotes in one post because Kathy did it so why not. They are 3 quotes I never forget. I will follow the challenge and challenge 3 bloggers whose great blogs I follow. These bloggers may accept or decline. I understand everyone is busy.
My first quote is from the fabulous Julia Child. I wish I had met Julia. When asked what famous person alive or dead you would like to have dinner with, I always say Julia Child. She loved food, loved to try new foods, loved to make new foods!
“A party without cake is just a meeting”
I asked my sister what was her favorite quote. Like me she couldn’t just rattle one off the top of her head. When I told her about the challenge she came up with an all time favorite quote for our generation. From the great Leonard Nimoy playing Mr. Spock in Star Trek:
“Live long and prosper”
My third quote is a quote from my father that I use too. My Dad owned 3 restaurants with his 2 brothers. We all worked at the restaurants. We ate dinner at one of them almost every night. I looked up the quote and it was attributed to Ray Kroc from McDonalds. Maybe he learned this expression when he was in WWI? During WWII my Dad was a sergeant and a cook. Maybe that is where he picked up the expression?
“If you have time to lean you have time to clean”
I am challenging the following 3 bloggers for their post on quotes:
Cathy Chester http://www.anempoweredspirit.com because she posts on the precariousness of life beautifully.
Rena McDaniel http://www.thediaryofanalzheimerscaregiver.com because she blogs on a subject dear to many of us with honesty and love.
Carol Cassara http://carolcassara.com because she is a professional writer and her blog posts are beautifully written.
Do you have favorite quotes you want to share?
