Paying it forward with tampons is a very woman issue.
How many of us have realized we do not have a tampon in our purse, briefcase, desk drawer, bike bag, knapsack or suitcase when we needed it? It happens. Hasn’t it happened to many of us when we are out just grocery shopping, not far from home and yikes no tampons?
Many upscale grocery stores have a basket of tampons on the sink counter for their customers. Yes this is paying it forward. It is a courtesy, a very appreciative courtesy.
Civility, and lack of it is in question a lot lately. Yet I question if a political divide would ever play a part in not giving a woman looking for a tampon one from your purse?
Who among us has not faced a tampon machine in a rest room only to realize it was not working? I know I felt that overwhelming desperateness at my situation more than once. Like a miracle, some woman has paid it forward to me on each occasion. In turn, I can recall at least 6 times I was able to be the shining light in another woman’s desperation.
Paying it forward with tampons is women helping women in a uniquely woman situation. Sure some grocery/department stores have to restock their baskets of free tampons often or don’t offer free tampons at all due to theft. There always will be spoilers.
Next time I see a woman desperately looking for a tampon in a restroom and no other woman is helping her, I will know civility is dead. For now I still think there is hope, one tampon at a time.
Have you paid it forward with tampons?
