I never felt ill, just a hacking gross cough. Actually I was grocery shopping and had a coughing fit and aisle #3 where I was looking at the tea selection, cleared out. People scurried away and I had the whole aisle to myself. When I went to check out a young woman behind me said to her young man, loud enough for me to hear, “You know people should wear masks!” Made me laugh which caused another coughing fit. Got to love passive aggressive people!
The pneumonia has left my husband with fatigue. He just gets tired quickly. He feels fine and his cough, fever and all symptoms are gone but his energy level remains very low. My husband is retired he does a lot of stuff around the house and yard. A Lot. January is the time he usually divides the perennials, and trims the trees. It is frustrating to him to feel like an old man and not get after his chores.
I remind him that he does more in a month than most people do in a year but he still is waiting for his energy to return. Friends and my family have been very sweet in calling and texting about his health. It is odd for everyone who knows him to know he is not doing 110%!
For the first couple of weeks we did a lot of movie watching. We are caught up on many movies we missed in the theatres. My husband has read 6 books. He is the one who usually goes to the library and when they kept seeing me, the librarians were concerned. It was very kind. He was able to do a library run last week and said he got quite the reception!
When I saw my doctor I got the pneumonia shot. After seeing up-close what pneumonia looks like, I opted for some prevention. If there were a shot for bronchitis I would have asked for that as well! Last week when my husband went to his doctor’s for a follow up appointment he also got the pneumonia shot. In a year we get part 2 of the shot and then we are supposed to be good for a long time. I hope so!!
Have you got the pneumonia shot? Have you been ill this winter?
