All the trees and flowers blooming this time of year make for a beautiful colorscape and landscape. The smells of spring are just wonderful. I am lucky to say that because I do not have allergies. I feel for those who suffer during this pretty and aromatic time of year!
Along with the god smells come some bad ones too. If you are packed into a bus or train you know what I am talking about, the smell of the end of season winter coat. If it is a wool coat it can smell like you are surrounded by a pack of wet dogs. If it is a bunch of puffy coat wearing people, there is some body odor wafting up from them like only end of season wearing coats can put out!
Earth Day means to me the start of the warm season. Winter coats can be cleaned and put away. My utility bills go down with the warmer weather before it gets hot. It signals that summer is around the corner full of hiking and outdoor activities.
These outdoor activities are ruined when plastic bags, garbage and what not is found along the trails.
There are some easy things we all can do not just on Earth Day but EVERYDAY!
Bring in your own reusable shopping bags.
I suggest keep about 5-6 in your car. Keep one of those tiny roll up ones in your purse.
Reuse plastic bags for cat or dog poop.
You can also line your garbage bins with the plastic bags if you forget your own bag
Use Cloth Napkins and Rags for Clean-up
Give paper towels and paper napkins the boot! So you have to wash them, you have to do laundry anyways!
Cook for more than one meal and freeze the leftovers
This saves time and money.
Recycle and Reuse
If you get magazines why not drop them off at a hospital when you are done reading or pass them along to a friend. Keep a recycle basket next to your wastebasket in your home. Old stained clothes or towels that are frayed can be cut up for cleaning rags.
Happy Earth day and Happy Spring. What does Spring and Earth Day mean to you? I got to go and wash my puffy coat!!
