It really is summer here. I lost a few pounds over the winter so I needed to sort out my summer clothes. My summer closet is not a lot different from my winter closet, just short sleeves instead of long and lighter weight fabric in sweaters and trousers. In other words we are not talking about a lot of clothes and time.
Then there are wedding dresses and attire. Like most people we attend very few weddings in the winter so most of my dresses are for a summer event. If you are like me, some dresses were dearly paid for and God Damn It they will be worn more than once!
My husband happened to be around so I asked for his opinion on the dresses.
Me: “Do you think this is too big?”
Me: “This one?”
Husband: “Kind of dressy for a funeral.”
Me: “It is for a wedding. I wore it to that very fancy wedding we went to a few years ago?”
Husband: “That was more than a few years ago. I think their kids are now in college! Let the funeral dress go!”
Me: “What do you think of this one?”
Husband: “Never liked it.”
Me: “What? I wore this several times. Why didn’t you tell me?”
Husband: “It’s on the chopping block now so I’m telling you.”
Me: “I know you have never liked this one.”
Husband: “Like it even less now. How many more? Do you have any that fit and look good?”
Me: “This one looks pretty?”
Husband: “Pretty big!”
Me: “I like this one.”
Husband: “That one is fine. Before you say it, I am not just saying that to get out of this task! It’s a nice dress for summer or a casual wedding.”
Me; “Thanks. I think so too. OK, you can go.”
The man can move really quickly when he needs to! I ended up keeping a couple of dresses that I didn’t even try on for sentimental reasons.
Do you have a pack of wedding dresses in the back of your closet? Do you ask your significant other for their opinion?
