Like many locations this summer we are having a heat spell. Day after day it has been in the 90s and some days in the 100s! We don’t have humidity but 100+ is hot any way you slice it.
During this heat spell I discovered my passport had expired and I needed to renew it for a trip in the fall. I collected my data and took myself off to AAA for a new picture. It was 104 degrees of blazing sunshine.
Ironically in the parking lot in front of AAA, a tow truck was loading a car. I had to park about 2 blocks down hill from the building. Did I mention it was 104 degrees!
When I looked in the mirror before my turn for my passport picture I noticed I had sweated off my make-up. What didn’t sweat off, I had to wipe off because it was streaking down my face. I couldn’t wear my glasses because they glare and was told no smiling! The end result, THE WORST PICTURE EVER!
Before you ask why I didn’t retake the picture let me tell you the reasons.
#1 I didn’t have any make up with me.
#2 I needed to send it off that day.
#3 It was still 104 degrees outside and even if I could have walked down to Nordstrom for an immediate make up application and walk back to AAA it would have melted off again!
A passport picture is good for 10 years. For 10 years I will have this picture!
My husband thought I was exaggerating until he saw the picture and it caused him to take an intake of breath not in a good way.
I have made my family swear that if anything ever happens to me, go missing, or die while traveling; they will never ever use this picture of me ever! It is just something very private I will share only with customs officials.
Do you have a bad passport picture?
