One of the first things I learned is I have blogging friends even though I have never met one of these women in real life! They are friends because we care about each other. I know about their lives as they share in their blogs and have come to look forward to my weekly and sometimes bi-weekly get together, which means reading and commenting on their posts.
As with any friendship if I don’t hear from them in a while I am concerned. Are they ill, on vacation or moving? I want to know they are OK just as I would with friends IRL.
When I see a post from a blogging friend I read and I comment. I try to comment all the time. It is lonely out there if no one comments on your posts! The topics of the blogs of my blogging friends range from fashion and recipes, kindred musings, travel, book reviews, life style choices, menopause, music, narcissism, relationships, empty nesting, parenting, health, aging, living with dignity, care giving, Alzheimer, careers, paddling, relationships, hardships, betrayals, divorce, reinventions, mid life, art and bathroom doors!
As bloggers we really don’t know when one person’s comment may ignite another person to comment. It is also hard to predict what topic may set off a shit storm of negative comments. I think this happens when the entire blog is not read but just the first paragraph.
Full disclosure, I naively started my blog to get more traffic to my on site store. Now I hardly mention my business at all. For me, the blog and the business have become separate entities. Some of my blogging friends are customers and I love them for their support.
Many of my blogging friends are proper writers. Some have even turned their posts into books they are that good. I am in awe of their talents!
What I have learned from other bloggers is a lot. I am grateful I found my way to this tribe of women.
Have you learned a lot from your blogging friends too?
